Candace Walker Rye “Candy”, 71, passed away October 5, 2017. She was born in Memphis TN on January, 3, 1946.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Vera and George Walker and her sister Sandy René.
Candy was the beloved wife of Jerry for over 48 wonderful years. She was the loving mother to Tootsie Ward (Ben), Mindy Quillin (Joey), Barbee McVay (Bobby) and cherished grandmother to Bailey, Parker, Ryan, Braxton, Megand David. She will also be missed by her sister Georgia , nieces Cassie and Allie and countless other family and friends.
She was a longtime member of Highland Heights Presbyterian Church where she played softball, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served as the President of the Presbyterian Women, was a deacon, elder and served as an example of a smart and strong Christian woman for years. In her later years she found a home at Cordova Presbyterian Church.
Candy graduated from Treadwell High School in 1964 and from Memphis State University in 1969.
Candy worked at Elliott Data Systems for nearly 30 years where she was a valuable employee as well as a friend.
Candy was an avid reader. She enjoyed visiting craft festivals, spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren participate in their various activities.
Candy had numerous friends from church, work and community. She made countless memories with her lifelong friends who cared for her faithfully until her final days.
Candy was also blessed by several caregivers who became like family over the past few months.
