Obituary for Paul Clark, Jr
Renown tattoo artist Paul Douglas "Doc" Clark,Jr., who's work and creativity quite literally lives on in those whom he tattooed over the past 25 years, passed on due to complications from cancer in a Memphis, Tennessee hospital on May 4, 2017. He had been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in July 2014, and despite being given only a short time to live he always drove forward and found a reason to smile every day. He claimed "There's no expiration date on me!" and lived the remainder of his life to the fullest of his ability. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on January 10, 1963, the firstborn child of Paul Douglas Clark, Sr. and Freddie Jo Brown. He grew up in Memphis, often in rough neighborhoods, and was very close to his many cousins. He began working at a young age, taking any jobs he could to help support his ill mother and younger brother's and sisters. He always provided for his family, having strong ethics and strict family values. He married Lisa Climer in 1982 and they had four children together. Paul began tattooing in the early 1990's, and open his first tattoo shop "Illustrated Flesh". He is also well known for his work at Beale Street Tattoos. In the year 2000, he was a living liver donor for his mother Freddie Jo Clark. Following a divorce and remarriage to Lisa Graham, he moved to Tampa, Florida, where he operated Timeless Art Tattoos. He worked on numerous people of all walks of life over the years, and his ink graces many musicians, wrestlers, even a few actors, models, and a lot of us everyday Joe's. He moved back to Tennessee in 2006 to be closer to his family. He continued his tattoo work at Memphis Tattoos for some time. Paul was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014 and grew much closer to his siblings, children and grandchildren during his final years. Paul leaves behind a large and loving family, including two sons, Paul Clark III and Devin Clark, 2 daughters, Amber States and Megan Clark, nine grandchildren and siblings Paula Skurecki, Carl Clark, Doug Clark, Carla Clark, Denae Gasper and Dena Nourse. As well as 10 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many loving cousins and friends.
